When I was reviving my 2002 F250 7.3 Powerstroke, I read every Ford truck forum I could find, searching for answers to my Ford 7.3 diesel common problems.
Here's a list of the most helpful Ford truck forum sites I found:
Let's start with my favorites:
If you're having problems with an early model, 1994-1998, or a late model, 1999 to 2003.5, Ford 7.3 Powerstroke diesel, chances are your answer's in one of these Ford truck forums.
The 7.3 glory years...
As Ford diesel forums go, the members over at Powerstroke Nation have created a huge bulletin board dedicated to helping you solve 7.3 Powerstroke problems.
They discuss all years and all types of 7.3 Powerstrokes.
There are literally tens of thousands of '99-'03 7.3 Powerstroke forum threads to sift through there. Not to mention hundreds of thousands of Ford truck forum posts.
Their 7.3 forum is clean, well laid out, and pretty comprehensive.
The "Bomber's" Ford truck forum focuses on 1999-2003 7.3 Powerstroke diesel engine and drivetrain issues.
They discuss 1999 and newer 7.3 Superduty trucks on their 7.3 forum.
Now for the oldies but goodies...
1994-1998 7.3 Ford diesels. The original Powerstrokes...
Powerstroke Nation's forum covers all years of the 7.3 Powerstroke engine. 1994-1998 and 1999 - 2003.5 when Ford discontinued production on the 7.3.
Like I said before, Powerstroke.org has thousands upon thousands of threads and posts on their site.
There's tons of information to sift through, so it may take a while to find the fix for whatever problem your truck has.
Diesel Bombers has over 2,000 posts on early model 7.3 Powerstroke diesels.
And these guys:
The Diesel Garage covers all years of the 7.3 Powerstroke, so they make it on the early model 7.3 forum list as well.
Here are the rest of the Superduty-focused Ford truck forums.
Don't have a diesel? These Ford truck forum boards don't care.
They're a good place to go if you want to talk about the Ford 5.4 engine or the Ford V10 engine. Gassers welcome!
This one's a general Superduty forum discussion board.
This site has a well-laid-out list of bulletin boards for every Ford truck forum freak out there. 7.3, 6.0, 6.4, 6.7 Powerstroke forum... They got 'em all.
From the horse's mouth, they talk Ford F100, F150, F250, and Ford F350 trucks.
But let's get back to Powerstroke forums...
For all you 2004-2007 "less-than-bulletproof" 6.0 EGR valve victims out there... You can woe and lament to your heart's content on one of these 6.0 Powerstroke forum boards:
And for all you square-mirrored—2008-2010 Ford Powerstroke owners...
If you're truck's "producing" oil, has a high pressure fuel pump problem, or you're just getting white smoke and a loss of power in your 6.4 Powerstroke...
Fixes to 6.4 Powerstroke common problems can be found on these forums.
So you got a new 6.7 Powerstroke. Trouble is … it still has some common problems to deal with.
So, if you're experiencing the exhaust gas temp (EGT) sensor failure, or wondering how Ford managed to move the EGR carbon deposits to the EGR cooler core, or are just tired of the coolant leaks...
These 6.7 forums should help you out.
I'm sure you know that the Excursion is Ford's take on the Suburbanite, grocery-getting, gas-guzzling, soccer-mom assault vehicle.
And as SUVs go, the Excursion's following is nothing less than cult-like.
So it makes sense that we get a long list of our own "special" Ford truck forums to help us solve Excursion problems.
The Ford Truck Enthusiasts "get" it. Their Excursion forum is labelled "King of the SUVs."
They're "Powerstroke" so don't expect to find a lot of V10s. They focus on '99-'03 "X"s.
They also have...
And the fact that they split out the Powerstroke forum from the gasser Excursion forum speaks volumes about their depth of information.
I'll have to admit—Ford F150s are some powerful mean trucks. Especially the later models. Yet they come with their own set of common problems.
So until Ford comes out with their 3.0L Diesel in 2018, these 3 Ford truck forums should help you fix your "smaller" truck.
And rounding out the Ford F150 Forum list out and completing this entire list is some social networking Ford help from your Friendly Ford Freaks over on Facebook...
And that's the list of Ford Truck Forums...
You'll probably notice a trend in the Ford forums above—there are around 3 big truck forums that show up over and over.
That doesn't mean that the smaller sites don't have great content—they do. But the criteria I used was where I found fixes for my 7.3s common problems.
Let me know in the comments below if you'd like your favorite Ford truck forum added to the list.
